Applying for the NDIS can feel overwhelming — especially if you’re doing it for the first time. That’s why we’ve created this NDIS Application Guide to help you understand the process, prepare the right information, and feel confident at every step.

Whether you’re applying for yourself, a family member, or someone you support, this page gives you a clear overview of what to expect and how to get started.

What Is the NDIS?

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding and support to eligible Australians living with a permanent and significant disability. The goal of the NDIS is to help participants access the supports they need to live more independently, participate in their community, and achieve personal goals.

To access these supports, you must first complete an NDIS application and meet the eligibility criteria.

Who Can Apply for the NDIS?

You may be eligible to apply for the NDIS if you:

  • Are under 65 years of age

  • Are an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or hold a Protected Special Category Visa

  • Have a permanent disability that significantly affects your daily activities

The application process focuses on how your disability impacts your everyday life, rather than just the diagnosis itself.

What Happens After Your Application Is Approved?

Once approved, you’ll be invited to a planning meeting where your goals and support needs are discussed. This is where your NDIS plan is created.

Choosing the right NDIS provider and support workers after approval is just as important as the application itself. The right team can help you understand your plan and use your funding effectively.

Need Support Along the Way?

You don’t have to navigate the NDIS alone. Our team supports participants across NSW and can help explain the process, answer questions, and guide you once your plan is in place.

If you’re unsure where to start or want to talk through your next steps, we’re here to help.
